In an attempt to help readers track down deleted, no longer active files posted on this blog in the previous months/years, this participative, reader-funded page will list re-ups offered by readers and my occasional contributions, starting February 1st, 2012. It starts with 3 new links sent by reader Will (thanks!) on January 31, 2012, plus one offered by this writer. To contribute a new re-up, just leave a comment below and your link(s) will be added to the top of the list.

    Just one quibble, though: Texas-based Mediafire is apparently currently under investigation from the FBI and is very likely to close door (and delete all files) mid-February, 2012. I’d suggest using lesser-known file lockers, when possible.

    @Max: Yes, I was at The Just Alap Raga Ensemble’s (as they call themselves: http://melafoundation.org/calendar.htm) concert in Karlsruhe – though I have the feeling, La Monte Young did more interesting stuff in the past. They sang one long raga (3 voices, table and tamboura from tape) for about 90 minutes in the style of their teacher Pandit Pran Nath. Interesting – but maybe done better by the ‘real’ indians … interesting to see La Monte Young anyway … Actually I think the Dream House itself – one of which was built in Karlsruhe especially for the exhibition – might be a more daring experience.

    Merci, Continuo. That was the last link i tried before whining in this comment box. Last night it froze up on me twice, but today it worked swimmingly. A note to future downloaders using the filefactory link: once downloaded, you must remove/delete the quotations ‘around’ the rar file-name in order to extract. Took me a few seconds to figure that out :) i’m listening now & the whole ordeal was well worth the effort :) *images* is easily as interesting as *ambiances* & i can’t really imagine having one without the other.
