Kraftwerk covers

To me, there’s more fun in Kraftwerk covers than in the overproduced, original songs. Here’s a pair of US discs cajoling us with rejuvenated versions of the canon. The first one is a 12inch using 8-bit sounds to reconfigure 2 of the better known songs. Programming and production values are high and the young female vocals add a certain charm to the music. The second disc is a 7inch verging on the moogsploitation side of retro-electronics, with a deep Jean-Jacques Perrey influence. Which is just fine, as it brings some humour to their version of Tour de France.

    Parla Continuo!

You obviously heard of Mr. Coconut? Latinized, mambo versions of Kraftwerk’s greatest hits. A real scream!

    all the best, sergio, rio.

Hi, Sergio. Regarding Kraftwerk, I tend to prefer the exoticism of non-German cover versions.

Please check out my Kraftwerk Kover Kollection mixes if this is your bag. Focusing on the weirder side of the covers spectrum and including tracks that heavily sample the band or songs that owe an obvious debt to them.

Part 7 coming later this year…

These covers are so cute – I especially like tour de mars. Great thanks for the rip! Reminds me once finding Messer Chups doing a cover of their “Das Model”, surf-rock style.
