An educational record pairing educator Andrée Huet and composer Eric Thibor, Imaginations is an exquisite collection of instrumental vignettes conceived as soundtracks to children exercises. The music is highly descriptive and each track illustrates one theme for the children to react to. The instruments are piano and organ, plus a variety of percussion like vibraphone, bongos, drums, etc, and the occasional trumpet, flute and guitar. Track #5 nicely incorporates prepared piano imitating bells, while track #23 uses inside the piano playing, appropriately so for a track called Mystère (Mystery). The interprets are Michel Delaporte, drummer with French singer Barbara in the 1960s ; Eric Thibor on percussion ; Henri Okari, presumably on keyboards ; and percussionist Marc Chantereau. In her liner notes, Andrée Huet lists several ways to use these tracks. For example, she suggests half of the classroom watch the other half acting according to the theme, swap roles, and then comment on each other’s performances.

These Unidisc releases never cease to amaze me. Thanks for sharing!

These discs tipically date from a time when making a record was the work of a team, something which is completely lost today. Sometimes, a sound engineer could save an otherwise average record.

Totally. I’m going to check out the other Unidiscs you’re sharing. I only own Francisco Semprun & Michel Christodoulides’ “Métamorphoses”. It’s really great. I guess you know it (it’s also on Mutant Sounds).

I’m familiar with the duo. I posted Semprun & Christodoulides’ first 1970 LP on the rare Kiosque d’Orphée label a while back.
