Cassette+magazine released by Rigobert Dittmann, Germany, 1986

The introduction to this Bad Alchemy ‘French’ issue is a Dominique Grimaud 1985 article (in english) , a follow-up to his landmark books ‘Un Certain Rock Français’ (1977-78) introducing readers of the time to Etron Fou Leloublan, Albert Marcoeur, Hector Zazou, Gilbert Artman, etc. I assume editor Rigobert Dittman wished to update some of the info in these books with contemporary artists from the A.R.F.I., IACP, Nato, GRRR, A.Y.A.A. and Delphes Records (Luc Marianni) catalogues. The resulting cassette is brilliant, once again, to no surprise from this cutting edge german magazine. The inclusion of Zoviet-France is possibly a joke – german readers, plesae help explain the german humour.

Merci – I never had that edition here.
As for Zoviet-France, neither the magazin’s introduction nor the specific article do betray a hint of a pun.
Germans AND humour – don’t you expect just a little bit too much, continuo??! ;-)

I’m not as prejudiced against Germans as you seems to be. I could spot many funny Germans like Franz Xaver Messerschmidt, Kurt Tucholsky+John Heartfield, Dieter Roth or. . . Harald Sack Ziegler.
