Self released C60 cassette circa 1989-1990 housed in a photo-size black plastic box, complete with booklet and inserts. No release date, no track titles, no label.

Sebastian Gandera is french composer Eric Morin. Facio Rictus is Patrick Duval. Both had a bunch of cassettes releases and compilation appearances in the 1990s. Gandera shared a split cassette with Klimperei: ‘La Bakélite/Petit Aéroplane’ in 1994 on the Façade french label (now available as a CD-R from french label Underground Productions). ‘Un soir…’ is one of the first Gandera releases. Beautiful melodic keyboard loops, violin and vocals. Sebastian Gandera is known for his minimalist, sad & melodic piano compositions, but here we have bleak songs a la Tuxedomoon. The first track has a ‘Johnny Got His Gun’ sample.

… using a variety of synthetic, repetitive musical phrases to create something peculiar and Gallic, including looped snippets of voice, piano-like keyboards and the like. All of this stuff cycles round and round like a delightful little accordion-playing Bruce Gilbert.

    Kaixo Continuo’s weblog.

i’ve received today this c60 but it’s not the same. I’ve a cover with a photo and behind there’s written by hand Sebastian Gandera’s adress and inside i’ve found a paper, written also by hand, with the tracktitle of this stuff!

    Does anyone get any info?

    ciao ciao

Thanks for the info, Mushy. As far as I know, all Gandera’s k7s come in several releases and re-releases by himself or other labels in Spain, Germany or Mexico. I assume my copy is the original ‘Un Soir…’ release by Gandera himself.

    Hello there,

i´d be so thankful for a re-upload of the beautiful tape. I can´t forget that dialogue about dreaming and reality. Indeed deeply fascinating.
